No Meeting Tonight

In keeping with the Pack’s “No School – No Scouts” policy, we will not be having the Pack Meeting tonight. WSFCS has a 2hr early dismissal today due to the snow forecast for this afternoon.

Any precipitation will freeze on the roads and make driving too dangerous this evening.

The Pack leadership will make a decision this week about next weeks meeting, whether it’s a Den meeting or Pack meeting.

Cub Scouts Cancelled

Parents, I have spoken with a several leaders and we have decided to cancel the meeting this evening.  Some are currently experiencing a mix bag of precipitation.  We will have our Pack Meeting on Tuesday, January 28th at 7:00 pm in the church sanctuary.   Den Leaders, please don’t forget to update Packmaster by 5:00 pm on January 23rd.

Wake Forest Sports Spectacular

Parents,

I have spoken with Mike Odom, the Assistant Athletic Director for Marketing and Special Projects at Wake Forest, and he said you can claim your tickets at the will-call desk if you have not received them in the mail.  Scouts are to be in their Class A  and meet at Section 113 at 1:30 pm.  They will be taken to the tunnel to give the players “High Fives” as they exit the tunnel.  The Scouts will be called down to the floor at half-time to get their basketball. Post game activities include a group photo on the basketball court and getting player autographs in the main lobby.

Skate Party

Parents,

Our annual skate party will be at Skateland USA located in Clemmons on Tuesday, December 3rd.  The address is 2512 Neudorf Road.  The party will last from 6:30 pm to 8:30 pm.  All family members may attend; however, you will need to cover the cost of your scout’s siblings.

Hiddenite Gem Mine

Parents,

We will be meeting at Mt Tabor UMC at 8:30 am on November 23 to travel as a group to the Hiddenite Gem Mine.  You are more than welcome to travel solo, but please wait for the group to arrive.  The cost is $12.00 per person.  I will collect the money from everyone at the mine. All family members are invited.  If you plan to attend, but have not registered, please email me the number of people at pack934cubmaster@gmail.com .

  • Bring a container or bucket with your child’s name for the gems they collect.
  • Wear clothes/shoes or sandals you do not mind getting dirty.  You may want to bring a change of clothes with you.
  • Bring an old towel to dry off after “Creeking.”
  • Bring a picnic lunch.  There are several picnic areas.
  • Plan to stay as long as you want.

All scouts will be entered for a geology belt loop.  For the Webelos, this trip will complete three of the five requirements for the Geologist Badge.

November Meeting Dates

Parents,

You will notice the calendar shows November 19th as a Den Meeting and the Pack Meeting is scheduled for November 26th.  PLEASE DISREGARD.  The 19th will be a Pack Meeting for all scouts, except for the Tiger Den.  You will be participating in a “Go See It.”  The Tigers will be given their awards at the December 3rd Meeting, which will be at Skateland USA in Clemmons.

Popcorn Pick-up

Popcorn pick-up will be Thursday, November 14th from 5:00 – 7:00 pm.  Each Den will have a representative to help inventory your pick-up.  Popcorn money is due on Tuesday, November, 26th from 5:15 – 6:30 pm.  Speaking of popcorn money, please ensure your son’s initials and Den number is written on the memo line.  This will help us with bounced checks.

Updated information for Parent Son

The opening ceremony on Saturday at 9am will be at the parade ground in front of the dining hall, not at the OA arena as I insinuated by calling it the opening campfire.

There will be limited pre-camp activities that you can participate in on Saturday morning. From what I’m reading, it doesn’t look there will be any activities on Friday evening. The Trading Post will be open Friday evening.

Campsite assignments

I have our campsite assignments. In order for the boys to near their friends, please respect the following assignments:

Webelos 1s & 2s: Piney Ridge C
Bears: Piney Ridge B
Wolves: Piney Ridge A
Tigers: Knoll

Anyone needing AC power for CPAP will also be at Knoll. Bring a 100′ extension cord.

If you have scouts of different ranks, it’s your choice which site you use.

If your assigned site is full when you arrive, you will have to set up at one of our other sites (Piney Ridge or Knoll).

I will be at Piney Ridge C ( or whichever is the one to the back right) for check-in during the following times:
Friday 6pm – 8pm
Saturday 8am – 10am, after lunch until 2pm.

You need to check in with me during those times. I will have your t-shirts, attendee wrist bands, etc. Don’t check in at Administration or the dining hall. They only do check-in for the Pack representatives.

I will need a printed, signed health form for all attendees (including parents!) and a copy of your insurance card. I will not be collecting the shooting sports permission slips at that time. This is the first year that they’ve required that for BB’s and archery so I need to find out how they are handling those forms.

If you need a packing list, we have one on our website. Hover over Pack Events and click on Parent Son Camporee for that list.

Remember that the opening campfire is at 9am Saturday morning.
