Pack 934 Updates 10/10/16
Pack 934 Updates 9/30/16
Speaking of den meetings. Everyone will meet downstairs (at least to begin the meetings.) The room breakdown is as follows:
–Bear Den (3rd Graders)– Attention Parents – We will be working on our Whittling Chip Requirement during our Den Meeting. Please ensure each Child has an attentive adult with them during this Den Meeting to help with this requirement. We will provide everything needed for the requirements so please do not bring pocket knives to the meeting. Parents – If you would like to present your son with a pocket knife we ask that you do this AFTER the Den Meeting at home and not at the Church. We have a large Den and safety is our top priority. – Ty Brown
We would also like to encourage the Bear Den parents to please review the Whittling Chip information on the pack website. Our goal is to have NO INJURIES while learning. Please help us to meet this goal.
We have two new event sign-ups so please see below for details and visit me at the sign-up table (in the hall) Tuesday evening.

Webelos Scouts and Parents:
To supplement Hope’s outstanding e-mail, I just returned a few moments ago from conducting a recon of Dan Nicholas Park. We are in for some great fun. It takes about 45-50 minutes to get there from Winston-Salem.
The gates to the Park close at 8 pm. However, the code to the gate is 9999 (yes, four 9s), so if you are not carpooling and otherwise arrive after 8 pm (or need to leave the park for some reason after 8 pm) you can still get in or out.
After you turn left to enter the park, take your first right to reach our campsite (about a ¼ mile after you make the right turn). You will see a sign on the right that says “Boy Scouts.” The parking lot is immediately to the left (see my first attached photo).
The parking lot where we will park is about 100 yards from where our campsite is located. There is a nice playground, a miniature golf course, and numerous other attractions located close by. We have bathrooms with running water located about 150 yards from our campsite. However, be advised that there are no showers.
Our campsite has a small building with electricity, together with a covered area and lots of picnic tables. That will provide a nice area for us to serve and eat our meals. I picked up the key to this building from the Concessions Building. We may have a little sweeping and arranging to do Friday night after we get there to get it ship shape.
FYI — There is a nice fishing pond that is available for use, PROVIDED that you have a valid NC Fishing License and pay a $2 fee to the park.
Very respectfully,
Brad

Every parent going, MUST have the Youth Protection Course. If you are attending and have not taken it, please click on the link above, complete it, and get a copy to me. We did check with the council on two-deep leadership and transportation, and they have approved the car pooling plan. The gates are open from 8-8 each day if you are a parent who is going but does not intend to stay.
We are so thankful to the Webelos I den for grocery shopping for the whole group! Due to Shane Harterink’s diligent planning we know the boys will not be hungry. They have purchased food for every meal Saturday. (They will be stopping to eat a fast food breakfast Sunday morning.)
If you do not have one of the above needed items, please let me know. We do have extras available. Please also note that the scouts will be sleeping at least two to a tent, so not every child needs to bring their own. We do however, want to ensure we have plenty, so if you do not have a tent, please let me know so I can keep track of extras needed.
They will be enjoying lots of activities to earn their rank, such as outdoor cooking, setting up tents, safely building fires, leaving no trace, fire starting (without matches), and hiking. There is also a petting zoo and animal sanctuary at the park. Please DO NOT bring Nerf guns this year as they will have plenty of other activities. (I know some may be bummed about this, but don’t worry, we may include those in a different event this year.)
As a side note, if anyone of you has ever been to this park, you know there is a water sprinkler section for children. Please let your sons know they will not be playing in the water as they will be doing plenty of other fun activities!!
