Lock-In late arrivals

I’ve heard from a few people that will be arriving late due to basketball, MES Mother-Son Bash, etc. If you didn’t email me but are planning a late arrival please let me know. I need the scout’s name and estimated arrival time.

Lock-In Details

Here’s some information about the Lock-In this Friday evening.

7pm – 7am
7:00-7:25 Belt Loop Session 1.
7:30-7:55 Belt Loop Session 2.
8:00-8:25 Belt Loop Session 3.
8:30-9:00 Pizza snack in Fellowship Hall
9:00-10:00 Games in Family Life Center (Gym).
10:00 – 10:15 setup bedding, brush teeth etc
10:15 – 11:45 Movie in FLC.
6:30am Wake-up, pack up.
7:00am Out the door!  Breakfast is on your own.

Uniform of the evening is Class B (any scouting t-shirt).  Scouts do not need their handbooks.

A parent is required to spend the night if their scout is a Tiger. For all other ages, a parent should spend the night. If they can’t, that parent needs to arrange with another parent in their Den to be responsible for their son.

We will be sleeping on the floor of the FLC. It gets chilly in there overnight, so sleeping bags are recommended. Also you may want to bring an air mattress or cot.

Any questions let me know.

Lock-In Registration

You should have received a registration email with options to sign up for belt loop activities. We will have 3 sessions for belt loops, so the 4th choice and alternate choice are in case I can’t put your scout in one of his first 3 choices.

Important: if your scout will be arriving late, please email Michael Nebinger.

If you didn’t get a registration email, also email me.

Den Meeting

Parents,

Unless communicated by your son’s Den Leader, there will be no Den Meeting tonight.  Our next meeting will be next Tuesday, January 8 at 7:00 pm

Email Subscriptions

As promised, I have just finished adding everyone’s email address that I had to the website.  So if you hadn’t subscribed to email updates, you are now 🙂

Every email from the website includes an unsubscribe link at the bottom.  So if your email address changes or you want to get these emails at a different address, then please subscribe your preferred address and unsubscribe the one this email came to.

In the next few days I will be posting the details for our January Lock-In.  Also, you will be getting an email from EventBrite for putting the preferred activity your son would like to do at the Lock-In.  So keep an eye open for it.

Wake Forest Sports Spectacular

This message is for the boys attending the Wake Forest Sports Spectacular this Saturday.  All scouts need to be in their Class A uniform, and will need to meet behind Section 113 at 6:30 pm to begin the evening by lining the tunnel and greeting the Demon Deacon players with high fives as they enter the court.  Scouts are also asked to gather behind the main lobby eight (8) minutes prior to half time to prepare for the individual recognition at center court and receive their basketball.  Following the game, Scouts will be invited to remain to meet players and coaches for a post game photo shoot.  Tickets will be available at the will-call ticket window on the evening of the game, or can be picked up at Wake Forest Bridger Field House Ticket Office beginning Wednesday, December 5th.

Scout Recruiting

Parents/Scouts

The Old Hickory Council has come out with a great recruiting tool!!!  When a scout gets a friend to join, both he and the new scout will be entered into a drawing for $100 gift card to the scout store.  The scout store has great deals, especially when you find the item you want on sale for 25% off.  Click on the link below for more details.

The Cubmaster Minute – November

November is one of my favorite months of the year.  It is a month where football is in high gear and basketball is getting started.  It is the month we mentally begin to get ready for the upcoming holidays.  More importantly, it is the month we begin to reflect about how blessed we are as a nation.  November is the month we honor our veterans and their families for the sacrifices they made for us.  It is the month of Thanksgiving, which is a time we spend time with our loved ones and thank God for all the blessings.

The cub scout value for the month of November is Citizenship.  I want to encourage you to read this article about a Thanksgiving favorite, sweet potatoes, and how a group of fourth graders we able to change a state law.

Thank you,
