Cub Scout Recruitment Night Bring a Friend!

This Tuesday, 5/20/14, will be a fun filled night of games and drawings designed to be exciting for our current scouts and to introduce cub scouting to interested friends that our scouts bring to this recruiting event. Scouts are encouraged to bring any friends who are interested in joining our Pack.

Our present scouts need to wear their class A uniforms.

For current scouts, payments are due for the Spring Family Camp Out and for Cub Scout Resident Camp this Tuesday as well. Camp Card money and all other payments are due on 5/27/14.

Have a great week!

GoScouter email

Everyone should have received an email last night from GoScouter. This is the new online system we are using to track camp card credits.

The way the camp cards work is for each $5 card your son sells, they receive $2.50 in a scout account. Those funds can be used for payment for any Pack activity that we charge for (camp, rechartering, etc). It is the parents responsibility to request that the payment be deducted from the scout account.

As this is a new system to us, it will take awhile for us to figure out how to fully utilize it. So please bear with us!

Cub Scout Spring Famiy Camp Out

Parents,

We are gearing up for our Spring Family Camping trip, May 30th – June 1st. To have a successful trip this year, we need your help. Following is a list of needs. This list will be updated as we hear back from parents. Please let Kim know if you have any questions. Thanks in advance!

1. Someone to pull the trailer that will have the supplies and cooker on it.
2. Need several people to come to the church Friday late morning/early afternoon (will send out time later) to help load the trailer.
3. With the large number of people going, we may need to load some food in other vehicles, do you have extra space and can be at church early?
4. Be at campsite by 4:00 to set up canopy and food area- need at least 8 people.
5. For Friday night dinner, we will grill hot dogs. I am asking for salads of all varieties to go along with the hot dogs (fruit, potato, pasta, green salad) and desserts. If you can bring one, let me know and specify what kind. Bring in a disposable container or one labeled with your name.
6. Can bring firewood.
7. Can bring cooler of ice to refresh the food coolers.

Thank you in advance for signing up. We will be assigning dens to do everything involved for a meal over the weekend- we will let you know of your den assignment later. If you are a parent that will be involved for a few more years, we would like for you to learn how to use the grill/kitchen equipment over the weekend.

Please let Kim know if you have any questions. We will be communicating additional information as time gets closer.

Please contact Kim at pack934communications@gmail.com .

No Cub Scout Den Meeting This Week – Leader’s Meetings

Hi Everyone,

This Tueday, 5-13-14, is our Leader’s Monthly Meeting so no Den Meetings.

All money is due by 5/27 for all events. If you have not signed up for spring family please send me an email as we are starting our food shopping for the camping trip.

If you missed the Pack meeting, we have started sign ups for the Wake Forest football game and scout sleepover Sept. 6th. Sign ups and payment is due for the event by 5/27. After that, you can still order tickets but will need to order them from Wake Forest. This event is in its second year. We attend the game and after the game the boys get to go on the field for a picture. We go to the baseball field to set up our tents (no stakes), hear from a speaker, have dinner and a movie. It is a fun evening. If you already have tickets to the game, you still need to sign up with me so we have a headcount, but there is not an additional charge. The tickets are $16 and this is a family event.

Spring Family is $20 for the family. Payment is due by 5/27.

Yorktown final payment is due 5/27. If you sold any camp cards, you can apply money earned towards this trip after you turn in the money from the cards.

Camp cards/money: Any unsold cards and money from cards sold is due 5/27.

Resident Camp: If you are signed up, your final payment is due. If you are able to drop it off at the leader’s meeting tomorrow- great. If not, please plan to bring it on the 20th. We need it prior to the end of the month.

Have a great week!

Pack Bike Rodeo Tonight Reminder

Tonight, we will be meeting in the church parking lot for our annual Bike Rodeo! The boys should bring their bike (non electric scooters are allowed) and helmet. We also ask that the boys have on closed toe shoes. Helmets are required or they will not be able to ride.

Class B uniforms will work best for tonight. The Bear Den is in charge of the Rodeo, so we thank them in advance for putting this together for the pack.

Due to the bike rodeo, we will not be able to have a planning meeting for the camping trip. Kim will be sending out an additional email later about what the needs are.

Amanda Treadway will have the camp cards should you need some.

Have a great week.

Cub Scout Pack Meeting Reminder – This Week

This Tuesday (4/29) at 7:00 p.m. in the Family Life Center is our Cub Scout Pack Meeting. The Webelos will be in charge of set up and clean up and the Bears will be in charge of the Flag Ceremony.

Please check by the sign up table as tomorrow night is the last night to sign up for some of our events. Don’t forget to see your Den Reps to get your Camp Cards.

Have a great week.

April Meeting Schedule

Parents,

I tried updating the Pack Calendar; however, it still shows a Den Meeting for this evening.  In order to avoid any confusion, the schedule for the remainder of the month is as follows:

April 15th – Leader’s Meeting

April 22nd – Den Meeting

April 29th – Pack Meeting

Compassion is the value we are discussing this month.  Also, we will have Joke Night this month.  You son will be allowed to share one joke in front of the Pack.  That said, each joke must be reviewed by their respective Den Leader.

Camp Cards

Camp Cards are here!  They will be available from Kim at the Pack Hike tomorrow for anyone that would like to go ahead and check some out.  Each Den has a Camp Card Rep that will recieve the cards as well and you will go through him or her to check them out going forward.  We will have the cards available at all of the upcoming meetings.  You are responsible for the number of cards that you pick up.  Meaning that you must turn in any unsold cards or the money collected for those you sold.  You can always get additional cards after selling your first batch.

The cards are $5.00 each.  For every card you/your scout sells, $2.50 is for use by your scout and $2.50 is given to the council.  You may use the money to pay for upcoming camps/trips/events through this time next year.

Harris Teeter has a $5.00 off $50 purchase on the card.  Great Outdoor Provision has a $5 off $25 purchase.  These two are one time purchase coupons but there are others that can be used over- Vincenzo’s, Bagel Station, Raven Knob Trading Post, Scout Shop.

You will find that some people will buy multiple cards from you if you let them know how much money goes directly to your son.

All cards and money will be due Tuesday, May 27th.

Below is a list of the Camp Card Reps by Den:

Tiger: Todd Harrell
Wolf: Stacy Stevens
Bear: Amanda Treadway or Shannon Settlemire
Webelos: Kim Towles

Please let Kim know if you have any questions.

Pack Hike Tomorrow Details Reminder

We are looking forword to the great weather for tomorrow’s Pack Hike at Hanging Rock.  Here is a reminder of the details for the hike.

The boys can wear a scout t-shirt if they have one.  They do not need to wear their uniform shirt – we don’t want them to lose any patches.

If you signed up to meet at the church:

Please arrive no later than 12:45 in the parking lot tomorrow

If you signed up to meet at Hanging Rock Park:

Please park in the main Visitor Center’s parking lot

Meet at the Visitor Center at 2:00 pm

Also, it is fine if your bring along your furry four legged family member.

Kim’s cell number is 671-5915 if you need anything- but it won’t work once we are close to the mountain.

After we hike, we will gather for a hot dog/hamburger cookout at the swimming/lake picnic area. We will drive our vehicles to the picnic area after the hike.

 See everyone tomorrow!
