Dear Friends,

At this time we are still preparing for our lock-in Friday night.  We are keeping a close eye on the forecast.  Please be aware that we will likely make a last minute decision regarding this event.  We ask that you watch your email Friday morning to ensure you do not miss any last minute changes.  Our scout families safety is of the utmost importance to us.

The schedule for Friday is as follows:

5:45-6:00 pm – Meet in your den room

6:00-7:45 pm – Den activities

7:45-8:30 pm – Pizza is served (Starting with Tigers and working up)

7:45-8:30 pm  – Kendall Fredericks (Pinewood Derby guru) will speak with parents who would like more information and answer questions.

8:30-8:50 pm – Pie throw for those who sold over $400 in popcorn

8:50-9:20 pm – Kickball game

9:20-9:35 pm – Get settled in for the night (air mattresses. cots, sleeping bags, ect.)

9:35-11:00pm – Angry Birds Movie

7:00 am – Depart

Items to bring:

Sleeping bag, air mattress, or cot

pajamas

toothbrush and paste

hair brush or comb

Change of clothes (for the morning if you wish)

Pillow

blanket (if no sleeping bag)

Any medicines you may need

This is a class B Uniform event.  That means, if you have a cub scout t-shirt, you may wear it.  If you do not have one, any t-shirt will be fine.

The lock-in is always great fun, even if you don’t brave staying the night!!

Dear Friends,

Is everyone ready for Turkey?  Wow, the year is flying!!  We would like to do something kind for Northwest Baptist for sharing their space with us for popcorn sorting and pick-up.  More specifically the Bread of Life Food Pantry that is housed in Northwest.  I would like to request everyone please bring a bottle of shampoo (or two) to one of the next two meetings.  It doesn’t have to be expensive shampoo, but we would like to donate it to help fill their Christmas boxes that will be given to their clients on December 15th.

Tomorrow night, November 22nd will be our Pack Meeting.  It will be held in the newly renovated Fellowship Hall.  You may enter through the upstairs glass doors as if you were going to the big gymnasium.  Please remember to wear your Class A Uniforms.  I understand there are some patches to give out!  We will also be hearing from Mr. Clifton Rudy Kane who served in WWII.  I hope you are all able to attend.  I know that some may be heading out of town, but if you could possible make it before you go, it promises to be a great experience for our boys!

We will continue to sell Pack t-shirts for $9.00.  We still have some old cotton pack shirts on sale for $5.00.  We also have Pack “934” patches for $3.00 (so you don’t have to sew each number on separately).  Please see me at the sign-up table if you are interested in any of these items.

I hope everyone had a fun filled weekend.  We were out delivering popcorn this weekend and talking with the neighbors.  Wasn’t it fantastic fall weather, perfect for outdoor activities?

Many have asked when the boys will receive their prizes for selling popcorn.  Those will be handed out at the Airbound Trampoline Party.  We will also be handing out Pinewood Derby Car Kits that same night!

We will have den meetings tomorrow night, Tuesday at 7pm in the basement of Mt. Tabor UMC.  (Walk down the driveway to the far right of the building to the Scout Entrance under the metal staircase.) Room assignments are as follows:

                      Webelos II – 120 (Boy Scout Room)

January 10th – Leader’s Meeting (No scout meetings)

January 17th – God & Me Class 6:00 – 7:00 pm

January 17th – Den Meetings 7:00 pm

January 24th – God & Me 6:00 – 7:00 pm

Dear Friends,

Thank you to all of those who participated in the Yorktown trip.  A big “THANK YOU” to all those dad’s who suffered with no sleep!  Saturday was a fun filled day of very cool and historical tours!  It was an awesome learning experience.  I have never been a history buff, but this trip really piqued my interest.  It was also very eye opening to see how sailors of old lived, and to realize that their living quarters probably have not changed greatly today.  I have a renewed respect for all those who serve or served our country and those who have fought for our freedom.   I believe I speak for our pack when I say “THANK YOU” for your sacrifice and the sacrifice of your families so that we, as a country, can remain free.

Parents, we will send out an email and put it on the website once the popcorn is sorted and ready to be picked up.  Pick up will be open until 7:00pm. Since Winston Salem Forsyth County Schools will be closed Friday and we realize some people will go out of town for the 3 day weekend, we have extended our pick-up time.  If you can not get there by 7:00pm, please contact me to arrange storage and pick-up.

I hope everyone had a great weekend even if we needed a boat to get out of our homes this weekend.  I have seen a few pictures from some of our brave scouts enjoying their time at the WFU game Saturday evening!!  Hurricane Matthew didn’t stop them, and now they can say they went to a football game in a hurricane.  I see a great story for generations to come!

This week is our monthly Leader’s Meeting.  So enjoy your Tuesday night off parents.  You’ll need it for the upcoming weekend!

Don’t forget Parent/Son Camporee is this coming weekend.  I have sent out details to all those who signed up to attend.  If you did not get the email, and you are going, please let me know.

I hope everyone has had a fantastic week and is ready for a wonderful weekend.  I also hope everyone’s popcorn sales are exploding!  I can’t wait to get the latest update on how the pack is progressing next Tuesday night, at the end of our den meeting.

Speaking of den meetings.  Everyone will meet downstairs (at least to begin the meetings.) The room breakdown is as follows:

                      Webelos II – 120 (Boy Scout Room)

–Bear Den (3^rd Graders)– Attention Parents – We will be working on our Whittling Chip Requirement during our Den Meeting. Please ensure each Child has an attentive adult with them during this Den Meeting to help with this requirement. We will provide everything needed for the requirements so please do not bring pocket knives to the meeting. Parents – If you would like to present your son with a pocket knife we ask that you do this AFTER the Den Meeting at home and not at the Church. We have a large Den and safety is our top priority.  – Ty Brown

We would also like to encourage the Bear Den parents to please review the Whittling Chip information on the pack website.  Our goal is to have NO INJURIES while learning.  Please help us to meet this goal.

Event Sign-Ups

Wake Forest Football Scout Night– Saturday, October 8th.  (Deadline October 7th) Tickets are $15 per person and include admission to the football game, a Wake Forest Football scout patch, and a group photo on the field after the game. All scout groups in attendance will be recognized on our video board, and will be seated together for the game.

Airbound Trampoline Park-  Tuesday, December 6th.  (Deadline November 22nd) This is the only time the pack will get together in December.  We will have cake and 1 hour of jump fun. More details will be available at the sign-up table. 

 

Hello Everyone,

We are so thankful that the Webelos made it back from camp safely.  It sounds as if they had a wonderful time!  Played lots of games, enjoyed their Dutch oven cooking, saw lots of animals (exhibits, not in the camp parents).  They also got to play miniature golf and hear a book read around the campfire by none other than our very own Brad Wood!  The Webelos also were involved in some very moving patriotic ceremonies, such as retiring an American flag, Pledge of Allegiance, and singing God Bless America and the National Anthem.  Thank you to all the leader’s who instill and model these great values to our sons!

 I would like to thank everyone who came out to The Beanstalk Journey zip line course last weekend.  We had a great turn out and the course was a LOT of fun!!  I want to say a special thank you to those of you who had to wait so long to zip line.  We now know how to approach this kind of trip and what questions to ask in the future.  My apologies that it took so long but thank you all for being so very gracious about it.  I do hope that once you got up in the tree houses, it took the sting of waiting away some. You all deserve a gift.

Tuesday night, September 20th will be our regular den meeting night 7pm at Mt Tabor UMC.  Please remember to walk along the driveway at the right side of the building to the basement and enter through the Scout Entrance, which is under the metal staircase.  If you are new to scouting and have already purchased your child’s uniform shirt, please have them wear it.  If you do not have a uniform shirt yet, please come anyway.  It is not required they have it before attending.  If you need assistance securing a uniform shirt, please see me, one of your den leaders, or anyone you know helps lead.  We are happy to assist.

The den meetings will wrap up early (7:40), and we will all head to the Family Life Center Upstairs for our POPCORN KICK-OFF!!!!!  We are very excited about this year’s popcorn as it is how we discount so many of our activities, so lets all do our part and meet our goals!!
